When to take newborn photos is a question most moms have when they first contact me to schedule their newborn photography session. So, if you’re wondering if there is an ideal time frame to take newborn photos? The answer is yes, there is. The ideal time to take newborn photos is during the first three weeks after birth. During this time babies still sleeping most of the time allowing the session to run smoothly so you are not feeling stressed during your photo session. Having a sleeping baby during the session makes things easier and enjoyable. I start photographing your newborn alone and then with parents together and finally each parent with baby. We take breaks to feed, diaper changing and soothe baby as needed.

When should I reach out to schedule the newborn session? Around the second trimester after the 20-week ultrasound is the best time to schedule your newborn session. This will give us more flexibility and move the date as needed to what works best for your family and baby’s arrival. What if I didn’t schedule my session and my newborn is at home already? Please reach out as soon as possible, and I will try my best to schedule the newborn session as soon as I have availability. Also, mom, know that there is never a wrong time to photograph your baby. If you decided to wait until baby is older or baby needed a NICU stay, reach out. It is never too late to photograph your baby.
