Newborn Photography Guide

Newborns

February 27th 2004

Newborn Photography sessions are my favorite sessions to photograph. Your newborn will only be so little for so long, this is why newborn sessions are so special. As a Utah Newborn Photographer, I am always honored to help you forever keep this special moment for your family. Welcome to my photography guide about three types of newborn photography sessions I photograph.

In-home newborn photography

In-home newborn photography is captured in your home during the first few weeks of your baby’s life. These sessions offer the convenience of not leaving your home with your newborn. I know it could get difficult to get everyone ready and pack everything to leave your home. I come to you with everything we need for your newborn photography session. I love to capture the nursery that you have spent months designing, mom rocking baby, siblings with baby, dad kissing and snuggling your newborn. These sessions can be captured anywhere in your home and even outdoors in your porch or backyard.

We will be together approximately 1.5 hours and we can stop at any time for feedings and diaper changing.

Hospital Newborn Photography, Fresh 48

Hospital newborn photography sessions also know as Fresh 48 sessions. It is a session that takes place in the hospital, birthing center or home within the first fresh 48 hours after your baby is born. I love to capture those first hours with your newborn, the wrinkly skin, the hospital bassinet, siblings meeting the new baby for first time and all the newborn snuggles with parents. Those first moments are so special to capture because they often pass in such a blur. I include both color and black and white images within your gallery and every detail that will help you revive these moments every time you look back at these images.

We will be together approximately 45-60 mins.

Studio Newborn Photography

Studio Newborn Photography sessions are captured in my white, natural light petite studio located in Daybreak. I love to capture your family together and the sweet moments with your newborn. I use minimal props such as a moses bassinet, all white daybed and swaddles. My studio is designed to be a home away from home for families that are worried about the lack of light in their homes. I have a changing table with newborn diapers and wipes. Bottle warmer, and water are available for parents. The studio is in impeccable conditions in addition to being sanitized with every family. The studio offers outdoor locations to capture some sweet moments. I love all the flowers in the summer and the cute farmhouses in the neighborhood.

We will be together 1-2 hours depending if you choose to have the session outdoors as well.

I travel to most areas in Utah. My studio is located in South Jordan, Utah.
  2. I send an initial email saying hello! so that you know that I have received your inquiry. I then send a proposal with your session details and pricing. You will be able to accept your proposal, sign your contract and secure your session date with a session fee, all at one time.
  3. Once your session is secured. I will send you a family questionnaire related to your session in order to learn more about you and your family. I offer client wardrobe for mothers and baby so that you don’t have to worry about purchasing a dress. This will be discussed during our video call and you are welcomed to try the dresses prior to your session. If you are unable to try the dresses, I will ask you to send me some pictures of dresses you wear so that I can learn about your taste and I will bring 2-3 dresses to your in home session as options for you. If you don’t usually wear dresses that’s totally fine. This is optional but know that when you book a session with me my top priority is to make everything easier for your family, including what to wear for your session. Family Photos Ideas From My Pinterest Board

I always recommend pairing outfits together to bring a cohesive look rather than matching. You should feel comfortable in your dress so that it shows in the images. I recommend long and flowy dresses so that you can move freely with your kids without worrying about how to position your legs when posing. I also recommend choosing moms dress first and then everyone else with colors that compliment mom’s outfit and colors that work well together. I highly suggest to stick to neutral colors and avoid logos or too many patterns. Subtle patterns are great and neutral colors work well with any location. Think about your home decor as well for in-home newborn photos. Will your outfit work well with you nursery design? I love to print my photos and I do for my clients as well. I want your photos to look beautiful with you home decor so think about if your outfit compliments your home decor too. Finally, my best tip is to always wear something that you feel comfortable with yourself. The most important thing is that you are happy and love your images.

More wardrobe tips

I will be taking close-ups photos of you holding baby and I recommend getting a fresh manicure or removing the old nail polish. I know as a mom we get busy and forget this important detail sometimes. A neutral color for your nails will look beautiful. Try to avoid any bright or neon colors.
