Newborns

November 14th, 2023

Posed newborn photography started in the early  90’s and its initial popularity is often credited to Anne Geddes. In home lifestyle newborn photography has not been around for that long but it is increasing in popularity, especially among modern parents who want to capture natural, everyday moments that are more family focused. If you are looking for a newborn session with a more natural and relaxed feel then modern lifestyle newborn photography is for you.

Lifestyle newborn sessions can take place in the comfort of your home or my studio in south Jordan. I provide everything we need  for our session including the perfect little clothing items, blankets, swaddles and dresses options for mom. I know one of the most stressful parts of having a photo session is deciding what to wear. I have curated a collection of beautiful dresses that are flattering and perfect for every stage of motherhood. I will take everything with me from the studio if you prefer to have the newborn session in your home. This gorgeous family designed this sweet baby boy’s nursery with sea creatures and wanted photos showing off all the little details.

During our session you can expect a lot of snuggling and holding baby in a way that you would in real life. I will gently guide you through natural posing and we will capture the excitement and chaos of older siblings with baby to quiet moments of mom and baby and plenty of of photos with dad too. Fur babies are welcomed as well!

Don’t worry if baby gets fussy, we have plenty of time to stop for feedings and diaper changes during our session. One more thing that is so great about lifestyle sessions is that we can photograph your baby any time during the newborn period, anywhere between ten days old to eight weeks old. If you are a new mother or a mother that needs more time to settle at home before your newborn session, know that you have this benefit when you choose a modern lifestyle newborn session.

When it’s time for me to photograph your baby alone, I lay them down swaddled and then unsaddled them allowing baby to roll themselves into a position that they feel comfortable in and while I may make some adjustments to ensure the perfect composition and a beautiful image, the pose is led by the baby and what makes them happy.  This results in natural, relaxed images that capture all the sweet details of your newborn and  their personality right from the start.
