We start with all the big milestones, engagement, wedding, maternity, newborn, and then that adorable cake smash for their first birthday. But after that, it’s easy to let the years slip by. Maybe a quick family session here and there in the fall… but not always something just for them.
These little years? They go by so fast. And they’re filled with so much personality—those silly expressions, the missing teeth, the way they tilt their head when they laugh. That’s why I love sessions focused just on your little one. It’s a sweet chance to capture exactly how they looked when they were little and the little things that made them.

For this session, I photographed my own daughter to celebrate her fourth birthday and it felt so special to document this age. She wore a timeless smocked bishop dress in a soft pastel tone, paired with classic Mary Jane shoes that never go out of style. These kinds of pieces feel nostalgic and sweet, and they photograph so beautifully. I love choosing outfits that won’t look trendy or dated years from now — just simple, traditional children’s clothing that lets their little personality shine through.
Her dress can be found here I really love this shop! Their pieces have such a unique charm, and many can be customized with your child’s name or initials. It’s a beautiful way to add a personal touch to the session.

These sessions are short, sweet, and completely focused on your little one. Whether you prefer a timeless studio session or a simple outdoor setting, I offer both options depending on what you’d love to capture and your child’s personality. If you’re drawn to a classic, refined look like a white vignette heirloom portrait — which highlights their little expressions in a soft, traditional way — you can explore my heirloom portrait portfolio right here. A studio session might be the perfect fit. But if your child loves being outside, is naturally curious, and enjoys exploring their surroundings, an outdoor session might just feel more like them.
I have a few favorite outdoor locations, including beautiful gardens right here in Salt Lake City. This session took place in one of them, the soft light, greenery, and calm atmosphere made it such a dreamy setting to let her be herself.
Sessions can take place in the morning or early afternoon, and they’re designed to be relaxed and easy no pressure, no stiff posing. Just a little time set aside to capture your child just as they are at this age, with all their sweet expressions and personality shining through.

I’m a Salt Lake City heirloom portrait photographer, specializing in traditional children’s portraits both in studio and outdoor settings.
